“BE THE SOLUTION: Inspiring Each Other to Take Action,” is the theme of the Coalition’s 9th Annual Community Dialogue Summit. The Summit will be held on Friday, November 7, 2008 at the Birmingham Unitarian Church in Bloomfield Hills from 7:30 am – 11:30 am. The keynote speaker is Penny Norton, the founder and CEO of FACE, a national non-profit organization that produces resources and training on alcohol issues. She has 26 years of experience in providing education and training on alcohol policy issues. Penny is a nationally recognized speaker and recipient of the Dr. John D. Slade Memorial Award for Advocacy on Alcohol Issues. Her style of presentation will be an inspiration to those in attendance!
“This year’s Summit will create action items based on comments and concerns from prior dialogues. It’s important to us that our community members know that we value their input and listen to their ideas. We look forward to collaborating with the many sectors that will be represented at this year’s event,” remarked Vickie Muir, Acting Director for the Coalition.
During the morning of the Summit, there will be break-out sessions with different sectors of the community in attendance. The sessions will encourage community dialogues in smaller settings and help determine themes for the three After-the-Summit Dialogues held in early 2009 (the 1st in January; 2nd in March; and 3rd in April). These will continue the community connection and ‘inspiring each other to take action’ that begins on November 7th with all the sectors.
